Indianola

[Not a valid template]

Indianola is a small friendly community that started in 1916 as a summer and weekend getaway community with the only access via steamboat. The Indianola dock, built when the Mosquito Ferry supplied the majority of transportation on Puget Sound, is a local landmark that’s considered one of the best places in the area to watch the stars or any major celestial event since it juts 900 feet out into the water. Besides the dock and fishing pier, it boasts unparalleled views of the Seattle, Puget Sound Marine traffic; Mount Rainier, Cascade and Olympic Mountain Ranges. Indianola is North Kitsap’s unofficial beach capital and is loved by all. The Indianola Country Store is the town’s central hub for what’s going on in the community, well known for its homemade Indianola cookies and local art displays. Quiet for most of the year, the town comes to life and captures the spirit of the tight-knit community in August for Indianola Days. The beach festival celebrates summer with root beer floats, sunbathing and a sandcastle competition. The Sandcastle event draws hundreds of sand sculptors, who pour their energy into building brag-worthy sand creations. This creative community enjoys a newly remodeled Indianola Clubhouse, just one sign of the civic pride and improvements under way. The redesigned Bud Merrill Pavilion hosts outdoor barbecues, crafts events and the local farmers market.
